In its piece on last year’s Intel Science Talent Search winner—Sara Volz—iQ intel suggests tracing success back to smarts and uses Natalie Portman as an example of a science whiz.

Even as she was becoming a childhood movie star in the early 1990s, Portman demonstrated she was one smart cookie. She had research papers published in scientific journals and made it all the way to the semifinal rounds of the Intel Science Talent Search, considered one of the nation’s most elite and demanding high school research competitions. She later went on to study psychology and neuroscience at Harvard.

Apparently Natalie could channel the Black Swan on film, but was no black sheep in the classroom.
