Aside from preventing a heart attack in the short run, statins also slow, or even stop, the gradual formation of plaque that narrows the coronary arteries over a span of decades. How many other primary care doctors are there who, like mine, do simple visual field testing by wiggling their fingers and looking into the eyes of patients that have not been dilated—and then refuse to allow patients access for screening?
