Sometimes mentioning the approach of Valentine’s Day feels like conspiring with the enemy. It seems that many more people are made miserable by February 14 than are made merry. So today we do our bit to reverse that reality with a You Tube offering of the brilliant e.e. cummings poem “i carry your heart with me.” We urge you to send it to the men you know who are adrift on the hearts-and-flowers sea. If they can just manage to get the link to their loved ones on Friday, it may serve to meet the expectations of some or to surprise those with none.
Thanks for a wonderful start to the week where affection, longing and love are expressed. There is nothing wrong with this holiday. It is not designed to make unhappy those without a requited love. It is just a day where those who can and want to do so can express affection or attraction or in this poem…the most beautiful expression of love.
Astonishing, simple,declarative.
