We’ll have more later, including about the mostly-female team whose Mad Men again took Best Drama Series last night. But for now, we wanted to showcase the acting awards – and a few other stars of last night’s broadcast. As the links below demonstrate, WVFC has been following these power women for some time.
- Betty White. Who could be surprised, after her star performance on Saturday Night Live, that an Emmy statuette would be next?
- Ann-Margret, awarded last night for a guest spot on Law&Order: Special Victims Unit.
- We’ve loved Edie Falco in Fargo, 30 Rock and The Sopranos. Last night she won for her most challenging work yet, in Nurse Jackie.
- Kyra Sedgwick deserved her nod for The Closer, which WVFC’s Pat Allen has praised for Sedgwick‘s ” fascinating portrayal of Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson, a Southern bred woman who breaks all those stereotypes. “
- Temple Grandin. We loved the movie about her life — but seeing her onstage last night, with those who’d created it, was an extra thrill.
- One of them was Julia Ormond, who played Grandin’s mother.
- Jane Lynch won for playing the ultimate power woman: Coach Sue Sylvester in Glee.
