Now, as hour two begins, we did get to Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock. Our first hour featured some lively chat from the red carpet, from praise — Dr. Allen: “Sandra Bullock looks so perfect. Wonderful hair, complexion and dress. Great neckline for this dress” — to quietly appalled: “Melissa Leo looks nice…if she were coming to my house,” said Eleanore Wells. But now, the first statuettes are about to be awarded. Let us know what you’re thinking!
And we did highlight the Bier film on Saturday: https://womensvoicesforchange.org/pre-oscar-double-video-pick-susanne-bier-and-iciar-bollain.htm
OK, onward to Part Three! https://womensvoicesforchange.org/part-three-yes-to-melissa-leo-no-to-lisa-cholodenko-yes-to-susanna-bier.htm

Very excited for Susanne Bier. Hopefully this will get her film into more U.S. theatres!
Fabulous dress, Helen! Doesn’t she look terrific.
Wow! How elegant Helen Mirren looks!
Does Helen Mirren get sexier every year?
My cat sat on the remote and changed the channel.
Is it just me or does Anne Hathaway appear to be very full of herself tonight?
David Seidler, hooray classy speech. But Anne Hathaway singing horrible sad parody song is killing my buzz.
Okay, Hathaway has a great voice, but really …?
That was really nice.
I am thrilled about the King’s Speech award for best original screenplay, David Seidler. Charming and eloquent.
Sorry – I havent seen Winter’s Bone. OK, here’s our first of the King’s Speech wave coming.
Ain’t Misbehavin’ — love that song! Javier Bardem is married to Penelope Cruz? I have to catch up on pop trivia.
Social Network wins its first. Jesse looks just as though he’s still in character. Nerdish.
Sorkin award was inevitable and likely deserved.
Unfortunately, I can.
I can not believe that The Social Network beat out Winter’s Bone
Did Brolin and Bardem plan the white jackets? They look like waiters. Or like they’re going to their prom.
I have to admit– seeing Kirk Douglas was pretty spooky. Guess I hadn’t seen him for a long time. He’s not even recognizable.
I thought the opener– a mashup of the nominated movies with the hosts inserted– was very clever and fun.
Nice to hear Steve Jobs thanked by the winner of Toy Store 3.
Toy Story 3? Quelle surprise!
I have to confess I chuckled when Timberlake said “I’m Banksy.” Mila Kunis’ schoolteacher vibe, not so much.
Cinematography winner, Wally Pfister (sp) is really easy on the eyes and seemed genuinely happy and humbled to win. A little uncomfortable watching Kirk Douglas. Fantastic to see him, but difficult to understand. Rooting for Michelle Leo. It worked!!
I agree. Given that she was the frontrunner for several weeks, she should have been better prepared.
Where is the hook?
Maybe the worst speech ever.
Melissa Leo’s dress is stunning. Too bad she couldn’t have prepared a speech.
Awwww, I liked Melissa Leo’s genuflection to Kirk Douglas.
But at least it goes to Leo, and likely for “Frozen River.”

I think I’m rooting for Jacki Weaver, just to be contrary. She’s 63, and hasn’t had an ad campaign.
Chris, thanks for reposting on the right thread here. Glad you read that piece. So far it’s a bit boring this year.
Here comes Best Supporting Actress …
@paulapoundstone Paula Poundstone:
“GONE WITH THE WIND just won.” Like I said!
But after the commercial, we might get a Melissa Leo award.
I think I agree with @FaraiChideya: “The writing is horrible on this #Oscars as is the patronizing of the hosts.” Franco in particular seems bored.
1939? We really gonna hear “I don’t give a damn?” Only sorta.
What did you think of that little mini-movie? Any Alec Baldwin fans?
Anne Hathaway points out right away that James Franco and she have been asked to host the Oscars to bring in the younger demographic!
It’s nice that we can count on some things. Like the Oscars opening being too long.
Seeing Tom Hanks after we just saw the clip of him with tears in his eyes, accepting the award for Philadelphia was odd. I still had a lump in my throat.
