Debbie Reynolds, who we all know from such movies as Singin’ in the Rain, How the West Was Won and The Unsinkable Molly Brown, has been collecting Hollywood costumes and props for more than 50 years. Reynolds, who also starred on Broadway in Irene and Woman of the Year, had dreamed of creating a museum for her collection. But after several development deals fell through, she is selling off the collection in several auctions. The first auction is set for Saturday, June 18, at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, Calif., and will be conducted by the auction house Profiles in History. About 700 items will be auctioned, including the “subway dress” worn by Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch
