You’ve got to love an organization that puts that group together, joined by Carly Fiorina, Sen. Kay Baily Hutchison and Sen.Hillary Clinton.

Vital Voices Global Partnership did exactly that Monday night at its 2008 Global Leadership Awards at the Kennedy Center. Read all about the event here. The Washington Post also has coverage, focusing on Burmese-born Charm Tong, one of the five honorees.

As for the group, here’s what they say:

Vital Voices Global Partnership is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that identifies, trains, and empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the globe, enabling them to create a better world for us all.

We enable women to become change agents in their governments, advocates for social justice, and supporters of democracy and the rule of law.

We equip women with management, business development, marketing, and communications skills to expand their enterprises, help to provide for their families, and create jobs in their communities.

More about the honorees and presenters is available at Global Voices. Congratulations to all!
