Jonathan for web

This post is part of our series of Fitness Saturday exercises, workouts, and expert tips appropriate to women in the second half of life. Jonathan Urla, a certified advanced health and fitness specialist, interviews one of New York’s top yoga instructors, Laleh Nader, about why she started to practice yoga and what it has to offer to women over forty.

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental, and spiritual practice from India that has been practiced for thousands of years. It is practiced by millions of Americans and has steadily grown in popularity every year for the past 15 years. For many women, it has been a prescription to help heal their bodies and to connect with a more spiritual approach to wellness. That being said, it has also been a controversial practice with an increase in injuries reported by many doctors. As with any fitness program, you should get permission from your physician before starting to practice yoga, and of course, finding an instructor who is qualified and has a suitable style for you is key.

For today’s post, I interview one of New York’s top yoga instructors, Laleh Nader, about why she started to practice yoga and what it has to offer to women over forty. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to her sharing more of the benefits and practice of yoga with us in the future.
