As we are now in the throes of summer, we’ve asked several accomplished women of style whom we admire to come up with their Sweet Summer Indulgences for the season. This week we invited designer Madeline Weinrib who lives and works in New York City. As an established painter, she exhibited regularly throughout the 1990s, before designing her first carpet collection for ABC Carpet & Home in 1997. Inspired by the challenge of translating painterly ideals to warp and weft, Madeline carved out a new niche and modernized what was at the time a traditional idiom. Through her Atelier and Showroom in New York, Madeline helps her clients create beautifully appointed, bespoke spaces that reflect their distinct personality and singular viewpoint. You can find more of her signature style at madelineweinrib.com.

Favorite Summer Destination: I have discovered the Bug Light lighthouse off the bird sanctuary in Orient, a wonderful spot in the Hamptons to swim and picnic.

Favorite Hotel: It’s hard to choose one; but here are three of my favorites: El Fenn in Marrakech, Morocco, Samode Palace in Rajasthan, India, and Les Ottomans in Istanbul, Turkey.

Favorite Restaurant: Again, there are so many, but I will choose just one—a charming fish restaurant in Istanbul and an old time favorite with carpet dealers. It’s called Balıkçı Sabahattin.

Favorite Boutique: Capitol in Charlotte, North Carolina has a wonderful selection of clothing, jewelry, and accessories.

Current Summer Reading: Orient by Christopher Bollen, All the Light We Can Not See, by Anthony Doerr.

Current Film on Your List to See this Summer: The Amy Winehouse documentary, Amy. She was an amazing talent.

What to Wear to a Summer Party: I always wear kaftans. They look great and are easy to wear and comfortable.

I mix Jo Malone Grapefruit Cologne and Tuberose Angelica.Necessary Summer Indulgence:  I have a vintage Mercedes convertible sports car that I store in the winter. It’s strictly a summer car and it’s wonderful to drive around the beach with the top down.

Favorite House Gift for a Summer Weekend Invitation: I have recently introduced my own argan oil—it is amazing for hair and body and makes a great hostess gift.

Love seeing the sophisticated and worldly Madeline Weinrib featured here today. I use her argan oil – it’s the best. And of course love that we both chose her chic Luce Chiffon Tunic which is a staple in my summer wardrobe!
