Fashion Friday: Michele Ateyeh On Her Favorite Fall Indulgences

Michele (Mickey) Ateyeh is widely recognized as a leading corporate business manager, retail director and licensing expert for fine jewelry and designer accessories. She began her career at Tiffany & Co. as assistant buyer for Elsa Peretti and then as buyer for the launch of the Angela Cummings Department. Michele then joined Hermes Paris and was responsible for the construction and completion of the first Hermes Flagship store in New York City.

Following Hermes, Ms. Ateyeh reunited with Angela Cummings, who had established Angela Cummings Designs LLC, as its President, CEO and Principal. When Angela Cummings relocated to Park City, Utah, Michele remained in NYC and was named President of the Prestige Division of Accessory Network Group where she managed brands including Ghurka, Calvin Klein, Tahari and Karl Lagerfeld. In 2009, Michele became President of Carlos Falchi and is credited with the rapid expansion of this iconic accessory brand, transitioning to President of Artisan House where she also supervised the growth of Isabella Fiore. Today, Mickey continues working with Angela Cummings, spearheading its special projects and partnerships.

Michele continues to share her varied business expertise with young jewelry and accessory designers. She is an active member of the Fashion Group International. She is deeply involved in supporting the arts, particularly Broadway theater, and several New York-based charities, such as Hunts Point Alliance for Children.

What is your definition of Reinvention?
Successful reinvention is translating into a current evolution — a continuation of past experiences and accomplishments translated into new ideas and initiatives. History can play a big part in one’s next assignments and projects, but looking toward and embracing change is not only essential, but many times it is great fun!

What are your favorite trends for Fall?
The fresh fall casual looks of beautiful coats and jackets from Max Mara, Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors are very chic, young and appealing.  Additionally, the trends for athletic wear translating into complete clothing lines for purposes other than actual exercise, makes great sense and has an obvious growth opportunity.

  • A great light coat, perhaps a new trench style coat from Burberry.
  • A pair of cool, comfortable velvet slippers from Stubbs & Wootton.
  • A great carry-all, light tote for the office and gym.
  • A beautiful, flower patterned or geometric block design dress for cocktails into the evening.

What are your favorite fall accessories?

  • A super large shawl that wraps around like a blanket and can be worn in place of a jacket, weather depending, of course.
  • A wonderful statement piece of jewelry: A necklace with a little sparkle and possibly some beading would be one of my go to items.
  • A pair of fashion statement sunglasses or reading glasses from Warby Parker.
