We haven’t found the video for it yet, but we wanted to let you know as soon we can that our fearless
Dr. Patricia Yarberry Allen, President of Women’s Voices for Change, shared her expertise during an interview today on Good Morning America. The subject was “Do
patients Lie to Their Doctors?”.

Dr. Allen pointed out in the prologue
to this interview that a good relationship with a doctor allows a
patient to be more comfortable discussing matters that can cause shame
and fear. In addition she notes:

  • Patients are often uncomfortable telling a doctor that they
don’t always use condoms in new relationships, that they have had
sexually transmitted diseases in the past,  how much alcohol they drink
or use of sleeping pills, diet drugs, prescription narcotics, or use of
    social drugs.
  • Patients may also omit a laundry list of drugs from the
health food store, many of which can have interactions with many
drugs.  These drugs can be especially dangerous when anesthetic drugs
    are used.

Look soon to see  a special Ask Dr. Pat article on this subject, considering all the changes we’re going through every day.

I continue to be so proud of my relationship – my honest relationship – with MY Dr. Pat Allen! She has become very close friend over the last 20 years or more. I can’t imagine why anyone would need to lie to their Dr. knowing full well that they are there to stay healthy and do whats right for your body. YOU GO PAT!
