As before, my children teach me. Like a few weeks ago, when I took the boys to take their Christmas picture.
It’s an amazing road … this autism road. And we still hit roadblocks and hills along the way. But last August, the uphill road, became a little less steep, and we now have a home on it.
Summer: Tans, bikinis, watermelon, BBQs, hot sticky car seats, baseball, long days, beaches, vacations, piña coladas and the list goes on... But not always, this summer has been a learning experience: As I get older, I seem to learn more. How could that be?
I realize what a very special man my husband is and how he never lets anything stand in the way of his truly unselfish parenting.
Last month, my son Joey fought the demon of autism and traveled with us. We went to the beach, we swam, and we were together.
As always, my children and husband have enriched my emotional education and taught me some things about Thanksgiving.
At this time of year, I wish my mom were alive to celebrate with me and my own kids.
