Sea Star Beachwear opens its first pop-up store in Southampton, New York just in time for Memorial Day week and the official launch of summer. The entire debut collection — nine fabulous colors for women and four colors for men and children — is available online at

While preparing for the launch of the pop-up, Fitzgerald generously shared some key advice for our Women’s Voices readers on how she defines reinvention, what fashion items make her feel her best self, her commitment to philanthropy, and what we can look forward to as she continues to build and evolve her new company.

Q:  What is your definition of “Reinvention?”
A:  Reinvention is looking inward at your accomplishments and then looking deeper to see what still needs to be done.

Q:  What key advice do you have for women who have a desire to reinvent their lives and start a new venture?
A:  Believe that you can and don’t be afraid to take risks. If something doesn’t work out, it’s not a failure, but a lesson to build upon.

Q:  What are 5 key pieces of clothing you have in your closet that make you feel your best self?

  1. Sea Star Beachwear Espadrilles — comfortable, versatile and chic!
  2. White Jeans — anytime of year.
  3. Navy Blazer always a classic.
  4. Black Satin Cocktail Dress you can’t go wrong.
  5. Killer High Heels I like looking over the crowd.

Q:  You’ve been committed to philanthropy via your board positions and other projects, how do you see your role in Fashion & Philanthropy?
A:  Being grateful and giving back are important ways to find balance in our lives. My goal would be to bring awareness to a chosen cause through Sea Star, and give a percentage of our profits to the charity. We would like the cause to be related to helping our seas and sea life.

Q:  What’s next for Sea Star Beachwear? What exciting item should we look forward to?
A:  We are opening up the store in Southampton next week (66 Jobs Lane) and are looking forward to our first “brick and mortar” experience! We have four new solid colors and two new prints that will debut next week, as well as the classics. Next December, we will have one new style for women and one new style for men as well as new prints and colors!
